Terra Cotta Panzer [Today's News Poem, October 10, 2010]

Terra Cotta Panzer [Today's News Poem, October 10, 2010]

Once upon a time a funny mustache called his armies forth,
Buried them alive in stone and rode a horse to pearly teeth,
Yielding gates inside the clouds—a grin for all eternity.
Terra cotta army men and tanks that come in thirty four
Types with treads that grind the helmet into skulls and fertilize
Wheat, whatever—never mind, who needs a reason? Excellence:
What we choose is what it's meant to be. So decorate the bricks—
Monuments of skulls make lovely testaments to life before
Endings peel away the carcass, leaving nothing more than bones;
Photographs will burn and parchment dusts the stones of history:
Death is everlasting, true, but empires leave behind a scar.

"Twittergate is the hottest new conspiracy theory out of the conservative blogosphere. Yesterday, Glenn Beck's news site, The Blaze, posted an epic YouTube video which purports to expose a massive conspiracy by Democrats to take over Twitter: "DID DEMOCRATS HIRE A ‘TWITTER-THUG' TO SMEAR THE TEA PARTY?" The Blaze asks."
