Flash Flood [Today's News Poem, September 17, 2010]

Flash Flood [Today's News Poem, September 17, 2010]

Arguments as sharp as shattered dishes,
Bills, or cigarettes she finds beneath the sink.
Everything's escape, so seek the yard and think.
Overtime to grant the little wishes
Fixing broken printers grants this worker.
Coffee through the day, insomnia by night.
Life's a string of instants; rarely feeling right,
Often worse. Lethargic, sleepy shirkers
Wake at home to quibble with their spouses
Rarely sleeping—no! Belay that little death!
Drive away from bankers squeezing out their breath
Working them exhausted, slave to houses.
Night is best. The road suggests an egress
White as light reflecting off the tidal swell;
Paved at first with cliff and sand. If one would dwell
Free, then risk the path of moon that blesses
Cowards off a cliff... then stay that steering
Wheel and keep to road. It's only if the ice
Slips you where the crabs select your deadened eyes—
Accidental death: heroic veering.

“There were more than 1,300 reports of damaged trees that were called into 311 or observed by Parks Department employees. Red dots show areas with downed trees. ”

Evil Satellite of Love [Twitter Found Poem, May 18 2010]

Evil Satellite of Love [Twitter Found Poem, May 18 2010]
Tweets+Edits=#twitterfoundpoem

My day would be completely PERFECT if I Didn't
have INDOSAT crash right in front of the high school.

fly me AWAY from the moon
AWAY from high school.
to love. I need a new sidekick.

Meet me in outer space.
Nobody is perfect here
THERE or really anywhere.
I have a lil secret. . .
I am nobody.
Nobody is perfect
Therefore, I am perfect!

I get a lot of people threatening my life
because I catch them in my high school.
I may just ship them on a satellite
when I get bored with them.

I just heard a story that would curl your toes
& enrage you all at the same time.
after hours of agony in orbit
my last boyfriend
crashed going 2 mph right outside the high school.

People have a capacity for evil that always surprises.

Elements of Attraction [Today's News Poem, May 8, 2010]

Elements of Attraction [Today's News Poem, May 8, 2010]

Awakening Gaia—who slumbers in magma,
Recoiling from birth even now, in the churning
Of iron—intelligence flickers in magnets.
We creep and we fly through the dreams of our hostess.
She's muttering curses. We're misapprehending
The message of burning. The ashes may flutter
And scorch what's not smothered; a gusher in oceans
Ignites on the surface and swims with the currents;
The coal in the seams in the mines is a shadow
Of flames ever spinning and reeling from natal
Exertions. She lusts for the Sun and she pities
Near Luna—it's old and depleted and barren.
The Sun is much finer: alone in the darkness
The system surrounds it, enthralled with attraction.

“Gulf fishery managers are bracing for the arrival of oil gushing from a ruptured undersea wellhead off Louisiana's coast since April 20, when the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig under contract with BP Plc exploded. The blast killed 11 crew members, sank the rig and unleashed a spill that could eclipse the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska.”

“Four hours after an explosion killed at least eight people in Russia's largest coal mine, Raspadskaya, another blast rocked the West Siberian mine, a source in the mine's administration said on Sunday. "The blast took place at about 1:00 a.m. Moscow time," the source said without elaborating. The information is yet to be officially confirmed.”
